So I'm feeling a lot better now. Which is great.
When I read the email about focusing on hands..I assume we were just supposed to draw hands...so uh..that's what I did..They're not amazing though. I need to practice drawing hands a lot more..
There are a couple I'm sorta happy with..but the rest...not so much..
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteYou're doing what you do with all your drawings - that is, simplifying the form into a cartoonish representation. For hands, if your fingers aren't drawn with knuckles and a taper to them, then can look like sausages jammed into the end of an arm.
Too many lines in a hand - like a face - ages them. So - combine an overworked hand that lacks structure - and your end result mirrors a few of these.
To avoid this, DRAW MORE HANDS ! Look at them as primitives - cubes and cylinders, with spheres at the knuckles. Draw them loosely and commit to your lines - don't put down a line halfheartedly, thinking you'll refine it with a darker, better line.
Look at the last drawing and compare it to the top two pages... which has the strongest form ?
